The MORryde StepAbove RV Steps, like part # MR58RR, actually have an adjustment you can make on the latch that I recommend looking at before you start cutting into anything (see attached).

Dimensions on most pin boxes are not the same, with the most important differential being the bolt pattern. Your pin box should have sticker on it either on the side or front that will have some serial numbers on it that we can use to identify the pin box.
